Background
Africa is among the regions most vulnerable to the adverse impacts of climate change. Rising temperatures, erratic rainfall patterns, droughts, floods, and sea level rise threaten food and water security, livelihoods, ecosystems, and the overall wellbeing of communities. These challenges place immense pressure on governments, communities, and development stakeholders to build resilience and safeguard hard-won development gains (IPCC, 2022).
Achieving sustainable climate resilience in Africa requires a multi-faceted and holistic approach that integrates advanced capacity building, cutting-edge research, innovative technologies, supportive policies, adequate financing mechanisms, and gender-equitable practices.
To address these challenges, the International Conference on Climate Change and Just Energy Transition 2025 provides a premier platform to convene researchers, policymakers, practitioners, financiers, innovators, civil society, community leaders, women leaders, and young leaders. The overall goal is to foster the exchange of knowledge, showcase innovative approaches, and catalyze collaborative strategies to building sustainable climate resilience in Africa. The conference seeks to drive inclusive, sustainable, and impactful climate resilience solutions.

We invite submissions of original research, case studies, technological innovations, policy frameworks, Services, and practical solutions addressing the conference theme and sub-themes.

Essay & Photo Story Competition for Students
🎓 Open to all students addressing Climate change issues in Africa (Regional, Continental and International)
WASCAL invites young minds to share their perspectives, experiences, and creative expressions on climate resilience through an Essay & Photo Story Competition. This initiative aims to amplify the voices of young people in shaping climate action and policy across the region.
Competition Categories:
📖 Essay : Write a compelling essay (max. 1000 words) on climate resilience in Africa
📷 Photo Story : Submit an impactful photo series (3-5 images) with a short narrative on climate change and resilience efforts in your community.
Eligibility:
🔹 Submissions must be original and align with the conference theme.
